Our life in Wellington
is good. Simon found a job and started on Wednesday 7th March at
Solnet (20 minutes walking from home). He works for the Ministry of Health on a
project about the national database on cancers. His colleagues seem nice. After
work every Friday evening in the board meeting room.
We went to 3 shows of
the Fringe festival: story of a part time prostitute, a funny musician doing
live musical loops and scenes of Pulp Fiction…but with puppets! Awesome!
Following a stormy
weekend (small one according the locals), we explored the South-West region of
Wellington: Makara beach. Nice windy walk. Simon, still looking for native only
bugs/insects.
Saturday 10th
of March, the great weather let us go to Matiu/Somes Islands located in the
middle of Wellington bay. Beautiful view of the city from there. Nowadays, the
island is a protected natural park: bag inspection and briefing by the rangers
when we arrived. It was a quarantine area for imported animals, sick people,
then a military base during World War II, it is now populated by rare animals
and plants.
On se tient au jus !
